A Little About Me

Hey there friend, I’m Josh! Pleased to meet you.

By day, I work in marketing handling video/social. Home is Cincinnati, OH with my husband and our lil’ guy Taran (pup).

By night (not literally), I’m a baker!

I grew up with a mom who taught me the sweetness of cakes and cookies, which little did I know at the time, would slowly foster itself into a passion for baking myself.

And now I’m looking to nourish and share that love with others! What started as a passion has become something so much more—a purpose.

With over a decade of video and photography experience, I have finally found a space where I can use my skills in such ways that also bring me joy. It’s a great feeling!

Being self-taught, there is a lot of trial and error in the process for me. Which, truthfully, I’ve come to appreciate! I strive for perfection with most things in my life, almost to a fault. With baking, I’ve come to expect and welcome the imperfections.

It should be a source of comfort and a space that we’re allowed to make mistakes. It should be fun, because guess what—it IS fun! Baking, for me, is free therapy.

  • Jam & Buttered Toast Cookies, recipe via @lungisalwaysbaking // When you thought you’d seen it all and then a cookie rocks you to your core. 🔥

Toasted sourdough slathered with jam and butter that’s then blitzed into pieces and mixed into a brown butter/white miso dough, marbled with extra jam and rolled in more toasty bits. Crispy edges, gooey middles.

The original calls for white chocolate, but I only had dark on hand (a mix of chunks from a bar and @guittardchocolate wafers)—next time I’ll prepare more because I love a good white choc + raspberry combo!

Truly run, don’t walk to make these! And I know I said it already, but @lungisalwaysbaking—may you always find a parking spot close to the entrance. 😭

  • My first galette des rois of the year! 🫶🏻 This will always be my favorite pastry to bake and eat. Silky almond cream tucked inside some flaky puff pastry (in this case rough puff)—I mean what’s not to love?

Galette des rois is a French pastry that makes a big appearance in January, specifically January 6th to celebrate the Epiphany (a religiously-tied feast day).

Traditionally you’d hide a small fève (typically a small porcelain charm of some sort) inside the almond cream to make for a fun surprise when serving up pieces. In place of a charm, you can also just use an almond!

Here I followed @emcdowell’s rough puff pastry recipe and @davidlebovitz’s almond cream filling! ❤️ Definitely give this one all try if you never have or get your hands on one at the bakery. They’re the best!

  • Been a minute—hi! 🤗 Popping in to share these oatmeal, fig, & ginger cookies (recipe on my site) which I made again recently for a lovely Friendsgiving thrown by my buddies @cincy_scoop!

This was one of my first recipes back in 2020 and I still find myself coming back to them. A perfectly cozy holiday cookie with an easy, no-fuss recipe. Cinnamon, dried black figs, candied ginger, and crunchy oatmeal edges—yes please.
